When packing for your fishing trip, please remember that Mother Nature can be unpredictable in this part of Northern New Mexico. Because the San Juan River is a year-round fishery, bring along clothing which is appropriate for the season. Layering is always a good idea, so that you can easily adapt to the changing conditions and temperatures. The penetrating rays of the bright New Mexico sun can burn at anytime of the year in any kind of weather; therefore, we recommend a good hat, polarized sunglasses, and sunscreen all year 'round. You might also consider a lightweight pair of fishing gloves for additional protection.
